Cranleigh Art & Crafts Society

founded in 1968 by Joy Attwell

We are a friendly group of around 160 members of all abilities from beginners to professional artists.

We have a programme of demonstrations which are held at the Band Room in Village Way, Cranleigh, GU6 8AF,(opposite the Leisure Centre) on a Saturday afternoons once a month starting at 2.30 pm and lasting 2 hours . We are open to non-members for a £3.00 fee per session. This is a great way to find out about the Art Society and you can then decide to join on the day.

The demonstrations are run by professional artists and cover all the popular media - oils, watercolour, pastels, gouache, acrylic.

Over the last year the artists have included Jo Francis Bowden, Liz Seward, Hashim Akib, Hagop Kasparian, Tiffany Budd, Richard Larkin, Sharon Hurst, Keith Morton, Steven Hawkins, Josie Tipler, Melanie Cambridge and Ben Manchipp.

As well our monthly demonstrations we also organise outdoor painting days in summer if you want to have a go at plein air painting with some company and an outing to an art event. Over the last couple of years this has been to Art in Action in Oxfordshire which was very popular. There will be an alternative venue for 2017 as unfortunately 2016 was the last Art in Action.

We hold an Art Exhibition in March and October in Cranleigh Village Hall where all members can exhibit and sell their work.

There is also a Craft Market is held in November in Cranleigh Village Hall from 9.30am to 4.00pm.

This is a great place to start your Christmas Shopping!
